June 6, 2001 - Informetric Systems today announced the Roll Quality Management System (RQMS), an integrated software suite targeted at producers of roll goods including paper, coated webs, plastics, metals and nonwovens. RQMS enables roll goods manufacturers to maximize quality and productivity by empowering operators and QC personnel to make better decisions regarding roll disposition. Roll classification, certification and regrading consider roll profile and defect maps, as well as lab data.
Most roll manufacturers today base quality decisions on random off-line tests. RQMS combines this test data with detailed on-line profile and defect maps in order to eliminate the arbitrary rejection of material. Rather than rejecting complete reels or lots, RQMS enables operators to cull or downgrade marginal slit rolls using precise on-line data that is acquired automatically from in-process measurements.
RQMS also automates Certificates of Analysis (COA) creation, providing on-line access to compliance data. COA’s are output electonically in XML, thus enabling Internet-based access to quality documentation. In addition, RQMS enables the full production history for each roll in an order to be accessed through an intuitive Windows application. Customer service personnel can respond to quality complaints with detailed roll maps, thus avoiding costing returns.
RQMS incorporates data acquisition and visualization software in conjunction with widely available commercial database and process historians. Both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database engines are supported. Operators and quality assurance personnel access product quality and manage roll disposition through an intuitive Windows-based client application. The Informetric Navigator supports queries and graphics organized according to roll genealogy, grade or order.
Among specific tasks that can be accomplished with RQMS are:
RQMS is designed to complement existing process control and information systems. As a result, the system can be easily connected with existing gauging, inspection, process historian, laboratory, MES and ERP systems.
RQMS is available immediately. For additional information, contact Informetric at 1-908-918-0111 or visit the Informetric Systems web site at www.informetric.com.
